Match on Action
Match on action is when 2 scenes are done at once by cutting the same piece of action must be going on and continious. This is an example of contunity editing which is very essential for helping the audenice engage with the movie and understand what exactly is going on in the film.
This action carries through which creates something called a "visual bridge" which makes the audience engage with the movie and grabs the viewers attention from cutting and smoothing 2 scenes together.

Shot-reverse-shot
This shot is when 2 characters are verbally communcating by talking to eachother and looking at eachother whilst interacting. In a movie, characters are looking opppisite direction so the audience assume that they are in the same room and are talking to eachother but its not always the case.
Sometimes they shoot scenes in different timings so the 2 characters are not necessarily always there together at the same time.
Shot-reverse-shot is a "classical" continunity editing which is common for the Hollywood style.

The 180-degree rule
This rule is essential for making a film because its a important technique which makes the scene more interesting. If 2 characters are having a conversation there is a imaginary line in between them which cannot be cut only if your going to show it within the scene itself. This allows the audience to have greater scene of the location and may give off whats going on off-scene and may link with the on-scene production.
